Zero Sum Partition of Abelian Groups into Sets of the Same Order and its Applications

We will say that an Abelian group Γ of order n has the m-zero-sum-partition property (m-ZSP-property) if m divides n, m > 2 and there is a partition of Γ into pairwise disjoint subsets A1, A2, . . . , At, such that |Ai| = m and ∑ a∈Ai a = g0 for 1 6 i 6 t, where g0 is the identity element of Γ. In this paper we study the m-ZSP property of Γ. We show that Γ has the m-ZSP property if and only if ...

On Zero-sum Partitions of Abelian Groups

In this paper, confirming a conjecture of Kaplan et al., we prove that every abelian group G, which is of odd order or contains exactly three involutions, has the zerosum-partition property. As a corollary, every tree with |G| vertices and at most one vertex of degree 2 is G-anti-magic.

On Zero-sum Magic Graphs and Their Null Sets

For any h ∈ N, a graph G = (V, E) is said to be h-magic if there exists a labeling l : E(G) → Zh−{0} such that the induced vertex labeling l+ : V (G) → Zh defined by l(v) = ∑ uv∈E(G) l(uv) is a constant map. When this constant is 0 we call G a zero-sum h-magic graph. The null set of G is the set of all natural numbers h ∈ N for which G admits a zero-sum h-magic labeling. A graph G is said to be...

A \varGamma -magic Rectangle Set and Group Distance Magic Labeling

A Γ -magic rectangle set MRSΓ (a, b; c) of order abc is a collection of c arrays (a× b) whose entries are elements of group Γ , each appearing once, with all row sums in every rectangle equal to a constant ω ∈ Γ and all column sums in every rectangle equal to a constant δ ∈ Γ . In the paper we show that if a and b are both even then MRSΓ (a, b; c) exists for any Abelian group Γ of order abc. Fu...

A Survey of Zero-sum Problems on Abelian Groups

Let G be a finite abelian group. A zero-sum problem on G asks for the smallest positive integer k such that for any sequence a1, . . . , ak of elements of G there exists a subsequence of required length the sum of whose terms vanishes. In this talk we will give a survey of problems and results in this field. In particular, we will talk about Olson’s theorem on the Davenport constanst of an abel...
